M Abdur Rahim Medical College

M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) is a government medical college in Bangladesh, established in 1992 as Dinajpur Medical College. It is located in the Dinajpur district of the Rangpur division and associated with Rajshahi University.

It offers a five-year medical education course leading to MBBS. One-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. Graduates of this medical college are eligible for USMLE, PLAB examination and the degree is recognized by WHO. M Abdur Rahim Medical College is listed in IMED.

M Abdur Rahim medical college Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Northern part of Bangladesh. It is a 500-bed teaching hospital. There are 17 operation theatres in the hospital, of which, 12 are general, two emergency, one labour and two daily. The hospital has introduced some new departments, including cancer, urology and radiotherapy.The hospital building has an underground car parking facility. It has the ability to accommodate above 1000 patients. The present government has decided to open 20 bed burn unit in this medical college hospital. PGT trainings are also given in the hospital. This Medical college is affiliated by Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeon for undertaking any post graduate training and Postgraduate courses. Many facilities like academics, research and residency are available here.

M Abdur Rahim Medical College admits 160 students (except foreign students) into the MBBS degree programme yearly under the government medical admission test. M Abdur Rahim Medical College is under DGHS and curriculum by BMDC (Bangladesh medical and dental council).

Department of Medicine at the M Abdur RahimMedical College was the first department created when the medical college began over 25 years ago. The Department of Medicine has a long and proud history of research and discovery in the basic, clinical and translational sciences. Currently, the Department of Medicine is among an elite group of medical centers who are leading in the delivery of personalized medicine. Our impressive pool of talented researchers is renowned for bridging the bench to the bedside, and clinical research evaluations of new drugs and devices.

M Abdur Rahim Medical Medical College Hospital is situated in the south-east side of Dinajpur City. This Hospital is evolved as Institute Hospital in the year 1992. Dinajpur Sadar hospital was used as temporary medical college hospital. Medical college hospital was started functioning in building proper in college campus on 7 March 2010. In 2017 Bangladesh government changed the name this medical college to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.

The library is situated on the 4th floor of Office building with a large collection of medical books. MARMC has a fast developing special library section with books on educational innovations, educational psychology, instructional techniques, curriculum development, curriculum evaluation etc. The library is equipped with IT, internet and photocopy facilities. We have all the required books essential for MBBS and postgraduate courses.

 

All books and journals are properly indexed and catalogued with computerized database. In addition there are departmental miniature libraries for references. Many WHO and other publications on Human Resource Development for Health are also available.  The library is being enriched day by day. The library is open for student and teacher 8.00 AM to 09.00 PM. There are more then 150 Journal and more then 23000 Medical book.

There are 4 (Four) hostels in this medical college.  All these hostels  are the center for all cultural & student activities. Hostels are situated few blocks away from college & hospital building. All the Hostels have 24 hours electricity, water supply, security & sweeping system is satisfactory. All the Hostels have dining facilities & canteens.
