Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC), is a government medical College in Bangladesh, established in 1968. It is located in Barisal. It is affiliated with University of Dhaka as a constituent college.SBMC awards MBBS degree and offers professional training and medical research facility at its hospital with 1000 beds.
As per the declaration of overseas registration of the General Medical Council, the awarded MBBS degree during or after October 1984 is eligible to apply for limited registration in United Kingdom. The college has an area of about 33 ha. Student dormitories, nursing institute, nurses’ training institute, dormitory for staff nurses, and residences of teachers are situated on the campus.
There are 7 (seven) hostels in this medical college. Three male students hostels, two Ladies students Hostels, Internee hostel (male) & Internee Hostel (female). All these hostels are the center for all cultural & student activities. Hostels are situated few blocks away from college & hospital building. All the Hostels have 24 hours electricity, water supply, security & sweeping system is satisfactory. All the Hostels have dining facilities & canteens.
The library is situated on the second floor of Office building with a large collection of medical books. SBMC has a fast developing special library section with books on educational innovations, educational psychology, instructional techniques, curriculum development, curriculum evaluation etc. Many WHO and other publications on Human Resource Development for Health are also available. There are more then 150 Jaurnal and more then 23000 Medical book.
